Material Selection Guide

Selection is driven by the intended use (front/rear projection) and the required Gain value for the projected image brightness.

• Projection Type: Choose standard White/Black for Front Projection. Specify Translucent/Grey for Rear Projection (requiring different optical properties).

• Gain Value: A Gain of 1.0 is neutral. A Gain <1.0 is for high-brightness projectors in dark rooms. Gain >1.0 is for low-brightness projectors but narrows the viewing angle.

• Mounting: For tensioned screens, specify a film with an embedded fine scrim (scrimless versions are for rigid screens) to manage mounting tension.

Manufacturing and Tailoring

The manufacturing process adheres to rigorous cleanliness and optical standards.

• Optical Coating:

  The white projection surface is meticulously coated to ensure a microscopically smooth and uniform reflection layer across the entire film width.

• Cleanroom Production: The film is often produced in a clean environment to prevent dust and particles from embedding, which would create visible defects in the projected image.

• Gauge Precision: The film thickness is tightly controlled to ensure maximum flatness and stability when the screen is mounted under tension.

Deployment FAQ

• Q: Can wrinkles or folds be removed from the screen material?

  A: Minor wrinkles can be removed by applying low, controlled heat or by tensioning the material. Severe creases may permanently damage the optical surface and should be avoided during handling.

• Q: Is a matte or glossy surface better for projection?

  A: A matte surface is almost always preferred for projection screens as it scatters light uniformly, minimizing glare and "hot spots" that ruin image quality.
