Material Selection Guide

Selection is contingent upon verifying the material's compatibility with the specific chemicals being handled or contained (Chemical Compatibility Chart).

• Chemical Verification: Provide a list of the specific chemicals and concentrations to be contained. We will supply certification data showing the material's resistance over time.

• Exposure Type: For splash/fume exposure, 900GSM is adequate. For continuous immersion, 1200GSM+ is recommended for added mechanical strength.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the material meets any specific environmental or secondary containment regulations (e.g., EPA/local authority mandates).

Manufacturing and Tailoring

The process is highly controlled to ensure the chemical-resistant additives are uniformly dispersed and the surface is non-porous.

• Compounding Precision:

  Strict formulation control ensures the plasticizer content is minimized and the stabilizing package is maximized for chemical inertness.

• Thickness Assurance: The material is calendered to a guaranteed minimum thickness to ensure an effective, non-porous chemical barrier.

• Certified Testing: Independent laboratory immersion testing (e.g., swelling, mass loss) is performed on production samples to certify the material's performance against common industrial reagents.

• Q: Is this PVC suitable for use with oil and gas hydrocarbons?

  A: Standard chemical-resistant PVC offers good short-term resistance. For strong, long-term hydrocarbon containment, a specialized material (e.g., PU or HDPE) may be required. Consultation is necessary.

• Q: Are the welding seams also chemically resistant?

  A: Yes, since the material is thermo-welded to itself, the seam is made of the same chemical-resistant PVC compound, ensuring a contiguous, uniform chemical barrier.
