There are many different types of inflatable fabrics available for inflatable structures. But a sound structure begins even before these steps, including the choice of fabric or material. Materials play a crucial role in structural performance, especially in air-supported structures such as inflatable structures. Given that they don't have much of a frame, the fabric has to bear the load of the overall structure.
Inflatable fabrics are often coated or laminated with synthetic materials to increase their strength and environmental resistance. The most widely used materials are polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coated vinyl or nylon, and oxford weave cloth. PVC-coated materials are more durable and more expensive. PVC is a type of plastic commonly used in the air chambers of inflatable boats. making them ideal for use in inflatable boats.
The PVC used to make inflatable boats is basically the same material used to make plastic pipes. The main difference is that the material used to make the airtight inflatable boat PVC fabric has various ingredients added to it to make it more flexible and softer than regular pipes. Dyes are also added to give PVC fabric a specific color. PVC-covered inflatable boat fabrics are less expensive than Hypalon fabrics, but a big advantage of PVC fabrics over Hypalon fabrics is that the seams can be cold welded quickly and efficiently. Seams on Hypalon or Hypalon boats, on the other hand, must be glued by hand by highly skilled workers using glue pots and brushes.
